First Visions Second Sight Book One Volume 1 Heather Topham Wood Books

The idea of an unwilling psychic, who wasn't born with her powers but got them while in a coma and has no control over them, hates having them and tries to pretend that they don't exist until her help is sought to find a kidnapped child really grabbed my attention (and emotions) and didn't let them go until I finished this wonderful romantic story.

The writing style is smooth and flowing, the imagery is exceptionally well done, and the dialogues are all very realistic and sound like real conversations that you're overhearing rather than reading. That is why I was willing to overlook the number of editing mistakes (I usually take off a star for editing errors!); I enjoyed reading this story so much that the editing mistakes didn't detract from that and they were minor enough that they didn't interrupt the rhythm of story.

So, if you're looking for an excellent contemporary romance novel with a paranormal twist, I highly recommend that you pick this one. Happy Reading! ❤️

First Visions Second Sight Book One Volume 1 Heather Topham Wood Books Reviews

I chose this book because the synopsis intrigued me. I like how the author allowed lead female character (Kate) and lead male character (Jared) to work together, while seeming to have such differing personalities. I kind related to Kate; she seemed to more reserved and observant, not mention more on the quiet side. I don't barricade myself indoors 24/7, but I am like Kate when it comes to certain personality traits. Overall great read; I look forward to reading more stories like this. Well done Ms Wood..
Kate Edwards wakes up one morning and discovers she is psychic. Sounds a little wonderful, right? Well, maybe not .Heather Topham Wood takes this story to a funny and unexpected place in First Visions Second Sight.

Wood's main character Kate is the girl in high school I was in awe of and secretly wanted to be. She is tough and unique. This book has a cool and easy voice. It is very readable and relatable.

I would recommend First Visions Second Sight to anyone who loves Sookie Stackhouse and her struggles with being telepathic. Wood did a fine job exploring all of the nuances of what it would be like to suddenly have a special power.

So, for the price of a cup of coffee, you can buy this entertaining book. Just think, you can only get maybe a couple of hours enjoyment out of the cup of coffee, this book will keep you entertained much longer. As an added bonus, this book is lendable, so you can extend the joy to your friends!
I enjoyed reading this story. I could tell Kate had a hard time with being a psychic, since it was new in her life, came upon her when in a coma. Was able to save a life. But notoriety was not a life she enjoyed. She finally comes to terms with this gift. Hard to put this book down, made me so anxious. It does end well but gives Kate a new perspective on what her gift means to others.
Looking forward to more visions.
First Visions, a new adult paranormal mystery romance, is book one in Heather Topham Wood's Second Sight series.

I really liked that it is different than most NA romances in that the romance is in the background and it is the mystery and paranormal elements that moves the story along.

Kate Edwards is 21 years old and keeping a secret...she has psychic abilities. Her visions first appeared when she awoke from a coma and was able to inform authorities of where a missing boy was located. She believes that that incident ruined her parents marriage, caused her to lose all her friends, and pushed her to the outskirts of society. She understandably has issues and tries to keep to herself. She is snarky and immature but refreshingly honest about her shortcomings. Underneath all her defensiveness is a kind person that wants to do the right thing.

Jared aka Mr. Hot Detective. Shows up on Kate's mother's doorstep looking for help in finding a missing child. You can probably guess that Kate isn't ready to jump on the psychic bandwagon and quickly tells Jared to not let the door hit him on the way out. Kate's mother has other plans. She invites Jared to stay for dinner and from there the story takes off.

What's to like about FIRST VISIONS?

believable paranormal/psychic elements
a great mix of genres (mystery, paranormal, romance, suspense)
a slow building romance
character growth
The main characters are actual decent people that try to do the right things.
A solid start to a great series.
No cliffhanger ending. The story is resolved at the end but the characters continue to grow in future books in the series.

I really enjoyed this book and plan to read the rest of the series. 4.5 Stars on Gin's Book Notes
Kate Edwards awoke from a meningitis coma with the ability to see visions of things that had occurred in the past such as the abduction of Matt. Her vision was able to allow the police to find the young boy and arrest his father who had abducted him and abandoned him in an old trailer. All the media attention and requests from anxious families caused Kate to go into seclusion.
One day a persistent police detective knocks on her door and eventually gets her involved in finding his girlfriend's missing young sister.

This is the first book in the Second Sight series. The story was very compelling. This would have been a five star read for me but there were too many editorial errors that were not caught. Errors really bug me because they pull me out of the story and I have to figure out what the author really meant to say.
